1. You need GOOGLE ALERTS to stay informed
What's your greatest interest? Go to Google and check out their program "Google Alerts." You enter your e-mail address and the subject that interests you. When anyone adds information about that term on the Internet, Google will send you an e-mail alert.
Enter "spiritual warfare" and anything new that's added to the Internet using that term will trigger an e-mail alert to you. You can check it out! It's the perfect way to keep on top of your hobbies, sports, special interests. Find it at: http://www.google.com/

2. You need the great GOOGLE NOTEBOOK
Google Notebook is one of the greatest services they provide. As a writer or speaker you are continually searching the Internet as you research for your sermons, lessons, or chapters.
Now you can cut and paste items, phrases, pages, URLs, photos, or anything you find on the Internet for later reference into Google Notebook. Find a good illustration, cut and paste it intoGoogle Notebook. Use it later.
Here's the best part. When not in use, everytime you open your web browser a tiny blue notebook appears at the bottom corner of your Internet screen waiting for you to "click it open". 4. What should you write about?
Find out what people are searching the Internet for. Why? Most people wrongly assume that the most important thing you need is a great idea, or a great book. Wrong. The most important thing to have is a "hungry crowd." If people are not looking for what you are writing, it cannot be successful. Face it, if no one buys your Christian book, no one reads it. you will see that all I'm doing is holding it in my right hand and

teaching one of my writing seminars in Atlanta, GA today.

How and Why to Write in 5 Minute Intervals
Write only for 5 minutes? No. Write in 5 minute intervals. You can write for an hour, or as long as you like, as long as every 5 minutes you interrupt your writing, stand up, walk around, do something, then return to write for another 5 minute interval. Perhaps this sounds strange to you, but it is absolutely THE key to writing conversationally.
The question is "how can you write in 5 minute intervals?" Answer: you need a timer. You don't need a "kitchen timer" that clicks while you write. What a distraction that can be. You need one that's completely quiet, yet dependable.
Here it is. It's called "Time Cop." It's a FREE countdown timer that resides in your computer. Simply type in 5 minutes (or whatever time) and it will alert you when the time has expired.

"Eddie, where do you get your ideas for writing?" I can't tell you how often I'm asked that question. Here are some sources:
1. The first is what I'd call "revelation." God, by His Holy Spirit reveals it to me. This is something every Christian experiences, and some are gifted to experience it more often or to a greater degree. The gift I experience most often is what 1 Corinthians 12 calls "a word of wisdom." It has nothing to do with intelligence. It's simply a demonstration of God's Spirit, as He shows you something simply profound. And as we say, "Most often, it's also profoundly simple!" But it is a revelation from God.
2. Another is natural creativity. Some of us are more creative than others. It has to do with our personalities, spiritual gifts, and experiences. We didn't plan to be creative. We just awoke to the fact that we were.
3. Life experiences are a tremendous source of ideas. And the longer you live, the more experiences you have, and the more ideas you "store" in your memory bank. At "age Medicare" I've had lots of experiences!
4. Teaching. Much of what I write about and many of the ideas I share are the result of teaching I've had. My father was a Baptist pastor and missionary. He was my original mentor. Since childhood however, I've been mentored by many, many wonderful pastors, teachers, and authors. When I visit other nations I hear preaching Americans have never heard. And I learn a great deal from their insights and perspectives. Remember, plagiarism isn't using someone else's idea; it is using their specific words. Face it, there are few original thoughts. I've often joked that the key to creativity is...obscure sources!
5. Finally, I use tools. Let me tell you about one...a great one! It "mines the Internet" for ideas. And, ideas trigger more ideas.
I've been writing and publishing since 1960, and I can assure you that there has never been a greater time for writers than today.
Not only can we order our books professionally printed one at a time, with little or no out-of-pocket investment; but now there is a program that literally blows "writers block" out of the water!

Writing and researching have been merged with an amazing new, inexpensive program that almost "writes for you!"
